Job Title: Cover Supervisor
Location: Middlesbrough
Pay Rate: £100 - £130 per day (depending on experience)
Start Date: Immediate
Contract: Full-time/ Part-time, Day-to-day/ Long-term
Can you take charge of a classroom, keep students focused, and ensure learning continues effectively when the regular teacher is absent?
GSL Education Newcastle Branch are looking for confident and adaptable Cover Supervisor (CS) to work in amazing schools across Middlesbrough. We are seeking individuals who can communicate clearly with young people, manage different classroom situations effectively, and maintain a productive learning environment across a variety of subjects.
As a Cover Supervisor, you will oversee pre-planned lessons during teacher absence, ensuring learners understand the tasks provided, remain engaged, and follow expected standards of classroom behaviour.
Cover Supervisor Responsibilities:
- Supervise classes using lesson plans and resources prepared by teaching staff
- Present assigned activities and clarify instructions when additional guidance is required
- Maintain clear expectations for behaviour and classroom conduct
- Encourage students to remain focused and complete work independently
- Manage minor classroom issues in line with established school procedures
- Provide relevant feedback to teachers regarding engagement, conduct, and completed work
Cover Supervisor Requirements:
- Experience working with young people in education, coaching, mentoring, or a similar setting is desirable
- Confidence managing groups within a school environment
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Understanding of appropriate classroom and behaviour management techniques
- Flexible and organised approach to working across different subjects and year groups
- Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply)
