Sports Coach
Location: Wakefield WF4
Salary: £110 – £120 per day (Depending on experience)
Start Date: Immediate
Contract Type: Day-to-day / Long Term, Full-time / Part-time
Are you a passionate Sports Coach looking for an opportunity to inspire and support children and young people through sport and physical activity?
GSL Education South Yorkshire Branch currently seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Sports Coach to work within schools in Wakefield.
As a Sports Coach, you will support pupils through engaging physical activities and sports sessions, while helping to promote positive behaviour, resilience and personal development. You will work closely with teaching and support staff to create a safe, inclusive and enjoyable environment for all pupils.
Responsibilities of a Sports Coach:
- Plan and deliver engaging and age-appropriate sports and physical activity sessions.
- Encourage pupils to participate positively in sport and physical activities.
- Promote teamwork, communication, discipline and respect.
- Support pupils in developing confidence, resilience and self-esteem.
- Build positive and professional relationships with pupils.
- Encourage positive behaviour and effective participation during activities.
- Adapt activities to accommodate different abilities and individual needs.
- Support pupils who may experience behavioural, emotional or social difficulties.
- Assist teaching staff with classroom or wider school activities where required.
- Supervise pupils safely during sports sessions, breaks and extracurricular activities.
- Contribute to a positive and inclusive school environment.
- Work effectively with teachers, Teaching Assistants and other school staff.
Requirements of a Sports Coach:
- Previous experience working as a Sports Coach, PE Assistant or in a similar role is desirable.
- Experience working with children or young people in a school, sports, youth work or community setting.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to motivate and engage pupils of different ages and abilities.
- Relevant sports coaching, PE, education or youth work qualifications are desirable but not essential.
- A strong commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to apply via GSL Education.
