Location: Sheffield
Salary: £460 – £600 per week (Depending on Experience)
Start Date: Immediate
Contract Type: Day-to-day / Long Term, Full-time / Part-time

GSL Education South Yorkshire Branch are currently seeking a dedicated and resilient Behaviour Support professional to work within schools across Sheffield.
The successful candidate will work closely with teachers, pastoral staff and other professionals to provide consistent and positive support to pupils. You will help pupils develop emotional regulation, positive behaviours, confidence and stronger relationships, while contributing to a safe and inclusive learning environment.
Responsibilities of a Behaviour Support:
- Provide one-to-one and small-group support to pupils experiencing behavioural, emotional or social difficulties.
- Build positive and trusting relationships with pupils through a calm, consistent and supportive approach.
- Implement individual behaviour and support strategies in collaboration with teaching and pastoral staff.
- Help pupils develop positive coping strategies, resilience, confidence and independence.
- Respond calmly and appropriately to challenging or potentially disruptive situations.
- Support pupils who may have additional needs, including SEND, SEMH or other barriers to learning.
- Monitor pupils’ behaviour, engagement and progress and share relevant observations with staff.
- Work closely with teachers, pastoral teams, families and other professionals where appropriate.
- Help maintain a safe, positive and inclusive environment across the school.
Requirements of a Behaviour Support:
- Previous experience supporting children or young people with behavioural, emotional or social needs is desirable.
- Experience within a school, youth work, care, support work or similar setting is advantageous.
- A calm, patient and resilient approach to supporting challenging behaviour.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Confidence managing challenging situations in a calm and professional manner.
- Understanding of strategies that promote positive behaviour and emotional regulation.
- A genuine commitment to supporting young people and helping them achieve their potential.
- Relevant qualifications in education, childcare, psychology, youth work, health and social care or a related field are desirable but not essential.
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to apply via GSL Education.
