GSL Education is looking for an enthusiastic Creative Teaching Assistant to join a school in Darlington. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys using creativity, practical activities, and engaging ideas to support pupils in the classroom.
About the Role
As a Creative Teaching Assistant, you will work alongside teachers to make learning more engaging and accessible. You may support pupils through art, music, drama, crafts, practical activities, and creative learning projects, while also providing general classroom and learning support.
The role would suit someone who can think creatively, build positive relationships with pupils, and adapt activities to suit different learning styles and abilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Support teachers with creative and classroom-based activities.
- Encourage pupils to participate in art, music, drama, crafts, and practical learning.
- Provide 1:1 and small-group support where required.
- Help pupils develop confidence, communication, and social skills.
- Encourage creativity, independence, and positive engagement.
- Assist with preparing classroom resources and creative activities.
- Build positive and trusting relationships with pupils.
- Support an inclusive, safe, and positive classroom environment.
- Follow school safeguarding and behaviour policies.
What We're Looking For
- Previous experience working with children or young people is desirable.
- A creative, enthusiastic, and imaginative approach.
- Passion for helping pupils engage with learning.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Patient, caring, and adaptable personality.
- Ability to build positive relationships with pupils.
- Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service, or willingness to apply for one.
