Sports Coach (Learning Support)
Location: Sheffield
Salary: £460–£650 per week

Are you a passionate Sports Coach looking to use your skills to support children and young people both inside and outside the classroom?
GSL Education South Yorkshire Branch are currently seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Sports Coach (Learning Support) to work within schools across Sheffield.
As a Sports Coach (Learning Support), you will use your sporting experience to engage pupils, build positive relationships and encourage teamwork, discipline and resilience. You will also provide learning and pastoral support, helping pupils overcome barriers to education and develop the skills needed to succeed.
Responsibilities of a Sports Coach (Learning Support):
- Provide learning and pastoral support to pupils across the school.
- Use sport and physical activity to engage pupils and encourage positive participation.
- Support pupils with their academic, social and emotional development.
- Work one-to-one and in small groups with pupils who require additional support.
- Encourage positive behaviour, teamwork, communication and respect.
- Help pupils develop confidence, resilience, self-esteem and independence.
- Support pupils who may experience behavioural, emotional or social difficulties.
- Assist teachers with classroom activities and learning tasks where required.
- Help supervise pupils during lessons, breaks, lunch and sporting activities.
- Deliver or support engaging sports and physical activity sessions.
- Build positive and trusting relationships with pupils while maintaining professional boundaries.
- Work closely with teaching and pastoral staff to monitor pupil progress and wellbeing.
Requirements of a Sports Coach (Learning Support):
- Previous experience as a Sports Coach, PE Assistant, Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant or in a similar role is desirable.
- A genuine passion for sport and supporting children and young people.
- Experience working with children or young people in an educational, coaching, youth work or similar setting.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Confidence supporting pupils with behavioural, emotional or social needs.
- Relevant sports coaching, education, childcare, youth work or other related qualifications are desirable but not essential.
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to apply via GSL Education.
