Salary: £460–£650 per week (depending on experience)

GSL Education South Yorkshire Branch are currently seeking a reliable Cover Supervisor to work with a school in Doncaster. This position is ideal for someone who can take responsibility for a classroom, follow prepared lesson plans and maintain a calm and productive environment in the absence of the usual teacher.
Your role as a Cover Supervisor will involve:
- Supervise classes and ensure pupils follow the work provided.
- Deliver clear instructions and support students with their tasks.
- Maintain appropriate classroom routines and behaviour expectations.
- Monitor pupils' engagement and respond professionally to issues.
- Encourage students to work independently and remain on task.
- Liaise with teaching staff regarding progress or concerns.
- Complete relevant records and report significant incidents when required.
Requirements for being a Cover Supervisor:
- Previous experience working with children or young people is desirable.
- Experience in education, tutoring, youth work or a similar setting would be advantageous.
- Confident and consistent approach to classroom management.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to remain calm when dealing with challenging situations.
- Reliable, organised and adaptable.
- Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) certificate on the Update Service, or willingness to apply.
- Good understanding of safeguarding and child protection.
A strong Cover Supervisor (CS) can make a real difference to how successfully a lesson runs. You will need to be comfortable taking responsibilities, maintaining clear expectations and helping pupils stay focused throughout the school day.
