Job Title:Cover Supervisor

Contract Type: Temporary, Supply, Part-Time, Full-Time
Start Date: As Soon As Possible
Salary Scale: £102 – £120 per day (Depending on experience)

GSL Education Hull Branch are currently searching for a reliable and confident Cover Supervisor to work within a secondary school setting in Selby. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong classroom management skills who can create a calm, purposeful learning environment and confidently supervise students across a range of subjects.
About the Role
As a Cover Supervisor, you will be responsible for supervising classes in the absence of their usual teacher, ensuring students follow pre-prepared work and remain engaged throughout the lesson. You will play an important role in maintaining high standards of behaviour and supporting students to work independently.
Core Responsibilities of the Cover Supervisor
- Supervise whole classes and ensure students complete pre-prepared learning activities.
- Maintain a calm, positive, and purposeful classroom environment.
- Manage behaviour effectively and address any issues in line with school policies.
- Register students and accurately record attendance, behaviour, and relevant information.
- Provide appropriate support and encouragement to help students remain focused and independent.
- Communicate relevant feedback to teaching staff regarding students’ engagement, behaviour, and progress.
As the Ideal Cover Supervisor, You Should Have
- Previous experience working with children or young people in an educational, youth, or similar setting.
- Strong classroom and behaviour management skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Confidence supervising students independently across different subjects and year groups.
- A calm, professional, and adaptable approach to changing classroom situations.
- A genuine commitment to supporting students’ learning, engagement, and development.
To Work with GSL Education, You Must:
- Have the right to work in the UK.
- Have an up-to-date CV with at least 2 professional references covering the last 2 years.
- Have recent experience working with children or young people.
- Hold an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or be willing to apply for one.
