Job Title: Cover Supervisor
Location: Worksop
Pay Rate: £460 - £650 per week (depending on experience)
Start Date: Immediate
Contract: Full-time/ Part-time, Day-to-day/ Long-term
Are you confident stepping into a classroom, setting clear expectations, and keeping students engaged when their regular teacher is unavailable?
GSL Education South Yorkshire Branch are seeking confident and organised Cover Supervisor (CS) to work with schools in Worksop. This role would suit individuals who can take responsibility for a class, communicate effectively with young people, and ensure that pre-planned learning continues smoothly across a range of subjects.
The Cover Supervisor will provide classroom supervision during teacher absence, guiding learners through assigned work while maintaining a calm, focused, and productive environment.
Cover Supervisor Responsibilities:
- Take responsibility for classes using lesson materials prepared by teaching staff
- Introduce assigned activities and clarify instructions where additional guidance is needed
- Encourage students to remain focused and complete their work independently
- Manage classroom behaviour in accordance with established school procedures
- Respond appropriately to minor issues and seek additional assistance when required
- Record relevant information about lesson progress, engagement, and conduct for teaching staff
Cover Supervisor Requirements:
- Experience working with young people in education, coaching, youth work, or a similar environment is desirable
- Confidence managing groups and establishing appropriate classroom boundaries
- Clear communication and strong interpersonal skills
- Understanding of basic behaviour management approaches
- Ability to adapt quickly across different subjects, classes, and year groups
- Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply)
