Job Title: Teaching Assistant (Primary)

Salary: £460 – £600 per week (depending on experience and qualifications)

Are you enthusiastic about helping young children build confidence and develop their skills? A welcoming primary school in Chesterfield is looking for a Teaching Assistant to support pupils across their early years and primary education.
About the Role:
As a Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with the class teacher to support children throughout the school day. You could be helping an EYFS child develop early communication and social skills, supporting KS1 pupils with phonics and reading, or helping KS2 pupils with their literacy and numeracy. You will also assist with classroom activities, encourage positive behaviour and provide additional support where individual pupils need it.

The staff team works closely with pupils and families to support academic progress alongside their social and emotional development, from the early years through to the end of KS2.
Responsibilities:

Support the class teacher with lessons and daily classroom activities across EYFS, KS1 or KS2.

Provide one-to-one and small-group support with reading, phonics, writing and numeracy.

Help children develop their communication, social and independence skills.

Support pupils with age-appropriate behaviour and emotional regulation.

Assist with classroom routines, transitions, break times and other aspects of the school day.

Encourage children to participate positively in lessons and activities.

Prepare and organise learning resources under the direction of the class teacher.

Share observations about pupils' progress, behaviour and engagement with the teacher.
Requirements:

Previous experience working with children in a primary school, nursery or similar setting is desirable.

A patient, caring and encouraging approach to working with young children.

Good communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with pupils.

Understanding of early learning and age-appropriate development.

Confidence supporting children with different learning needs and abilities.

Ability to follow the direction of the class teacher and work effectively as part of a school team.

A genuine interest in helping children develop academically, socially and emotionally.

Have an up-to-date CV with two relevant references from within the last two years.

Have an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service or be willing to apply for one through GSL Education.
Please be advised that this role requires a strong knowledge and understanding of safeguarding and child protection and that successful applicants must satisfy all background safer recruitment checks including providing an enhanced DBS certificate registered on the update service, or completing an application for a new check.
