Job Title: SEN Teaching Assistant

Salary: £460 – £600 per week (depending on experience and qualifications)
Contract Type: Long-term / Temporary, Full-time / Part-time

Are you passionate about helping pupils with additional needs thrive in the classroom? A supportive school in Sheffield is looking for a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to provide tailored support and help pupils make progress in their learning.
About the Role:
As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers and other staff to support pupils with special educational needs throughout the school day. You will provide one-to-one and small-group support, help pupils engage with lessons and adapt activities where needed, while encouraging independence and positive behaviour.

Responsibilities:

Provide one-to-one and small-group support for pupils with SEN.

Assist teachers with classroom activities and learning tasks.

Adapt and reinforce learning to suit individual pupils' needs.

Support pupils with communication, behaviour and emotional regulation where appropriate.

Encourage positive engagement, confidence and independence.

Monitor progress and share relevant observations with teaching staff.

Help maintain a calm, safe and inclusive classroom environment.
Requirements:

Previous experience supporting children or young people with SEN is desirable.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

A patient, calm and understanding approach.

Ability to adapt your support to individual needs.

Confidence working independently and as part of a wider school team.

A genuine commitment to helping pupils overcome barriers to learning.

SEN, education or care experience is advantageous.

Have the right to work in the UK.

Have an up-to-date CV with two relevant references from within the last two years.

Have an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service or be willing to apply for one through GSL Education.
Please be advised that this role requires a strong knowledge and understanding of safeguarding and child protection and that successful applicants must satisfy all background safer recruitment checks including providing an enhanced DBS certificate registered on the update service, or completing an application for a new check.
