Job Title: Sports Coach / Learning Support
Location: Rotherham
Salary: £460 – £650 per week (depending on experience and qualifications)
Contract Type: Long-term / Temporary, Full-time / Part-time

Do you have a background in sport and enjoy helping young people build confidence and stay engaged? A supportive school in Rotherham is looking for a Sports Coach / Learning Support professional to provide classroom-based support across the school.
About the Role:
This is a school-based classroom support position, not a sports delivery role. You will work alongside teachers to support pupils with learning, behaviour and engagement, helping individuals and groups to participate positively in lessons and make progress.
Your experience in sport or coaching can bring valuable transferable skills such as teamwork, structure, resilience, communication and behaviour management. Sport is your professional background, but your main responsibility will be supporting pupils in the classroom.

Responsibilities:

Provide classroom-based support to pupils across the school.

Assist teachers with learning activities and day-to-day classroom tasks.

Support positive behaviour and encourage pupils to remain engaged with their learning.

Provide one-to-one or small-group support where appropriate.

Assist with cover supervision when required.

Support pupils with SEN and additional learning needs where appropriate.

Build positive, professional relationships with pupils.

Share relevant observations and feedback with teachers and other school staff.
Requirements:

Previous experience working with children or young people is desirable.

Sports, coaching or fitness experience is advantageous as a source of transferable skills.

Strong communication, teamwork and behaviour management skills.

A calm, patient and resilient approach.

Confidence working with pupils in a classroom environment.

Ability to follow instructions and work effectively alongside teaching staff.

A genuine commitment to helping young people engage positively with education.
To work with GSL Education as a Sports Coach / Learning Support, you should:

Have the right to work in the UK.

Have an up-to-date CV with two relevant references from within the last two years.

Have an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service or be willing to apply for one through GSL Education.
Please be advised that this role requires a strong knowledge and understanding of safeguarding and child protection and that successful applicants must satisfy all background safer recruitment checks including providing an enhanced DBS certificate registered on the update service, or completing an application for a new check.
