Are you confident managing a classroom and keen to support students in staying focused on their learning? A welcoming secondary school in Barnsley is seeking a dependable Cover Supervisor to join their team.
About the Role:
As a Cover Supervisor, you will take responsibility for supervising classes when the usual teacher is unavailable. You will deliver prepared lesson work, manage classroom behaviour and make sure students remain engaged and supported throughout the school day. This role would suit someone who enjoys working with young people and can provide clear, consistent guidance in a classroom setting.

Responsibilities:

Supervise classes in the absence of the regular teacher.

Follow and deliver lesson plans and instructions provided by teaching staff.

Manage classroom behaviour calmly and consistently.

Encourage students to remain focused and complete their assigned work.

Support a safe, orderly and productive classroom environment.

Respond appropriately to questions and routine classroom needs.

Report relevant concerns, incidents or student issues to appropriate staff.

Follow school policies and procedures at all times.
Requirements:

Previous experience working with children or young people is desirable.

Confident communication and classroom management skills.

A calm, reliable and professional approach.

Ability to follow lesson plans and instructions accurately.

Strong organisational skills and good attention to detail.

Ability to work independently while contributing effectively to the wider school team.

Previous experience in a school or education setting is advantageous.

Have the right to work in the UK.

Have an up-to-date CV with two relevant references from within the last two years.

Have an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service or be willing to apply for one through GSL Education.
Please be advised that this role requires a strong knowledge and understanding of safeguarding and child protection and that successful applicants must satisfy all background safer recruitment checks including providing an enhanced DBS certificate registered on the update service, or completing an application for a new check.
