Job Title: Sports Coach / Learning Support
Location: Sheffield
Salary: £460 – £650 per week (depending on experience and qualifications)
Contract Type: Long-term / Temporary, Full-time / Part-time

Do you have a background in sport and enjoy using your skills to support young people? A welcoming school in Sheffield is looking for a Sports Coach / Learning Support professional to provide classroom-based support across the school.
About the Role:
This is a school-based classroom support role rather than a sports delivery position. You will work alongside teachers to support pupils with learning, behaviour and engagement, with opportunities to assist across Primary or Secondary classrooms, including SEN or EYFS settings where appropriate.
Your sports or coaching background can provide valuable transferable skills such as confidence, resilience, structure, communication and behaviour management. Sport is your background, but supporting pupils in the classroom will be your main responsibility.

Responsibilities:

Provide classroom-based support to pupils across the school.

Support positive behaviour and help pupils remain engaged with learning.

Work alongside teachers to assist with classroom activities and learning tasks.

Provide cover supervision when required.

Support pupils in Primary or Secondary settings, including SEN or EYFS where appropriate.

Build positive and professional relationships with pupils.

Use structure, encouragement and clear communication to support pupils effectively.

Share relevant observations and feedback with teaching staff.
Requirements:
-
Previous experience working with children or young people is desirable.

Sports, coaching or fitness experience is advantageous but will be used as a transferable skill rather than for sports delivery.

Strong communication and behaviour management skills.

A calm, resilient and consistent approach.

Confidence supporting pupils in a classroom environment.

Ability to work effectively alongside teachers and other school staff.

A genuine interest in helping young people engage with education.

Have the right to work in the UK.

Have an up-to-date CV with two relevant references from within the last two years.

Have an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service or be willing to apply for one through GSL Education.
Please be advised that this role requires a strong knowledge and understanding of safeguarding and child protection and that successful applicants must satisfy all background safer recruitment checks including providing an enhanced DBS certificate registered on the update service, or completing an application for a new check.
