Job Title: Design and Technology Teacher
Location: Barnsley
Pay Rate: Up to £220 per day (depending on experience)
Start Date: Immediate
Contract: Full-time/ Part-time, Day-to-day/ Long-term

GSL Education South Yorkshire Branch are recruiting skilled and innovative Design and Technology Teacher for tech savvy schools in Barnsley. We welcome qualified educators who can combine creative thinking with practical instruction, introduce learners to different materials and manufacturing techniques, and build confidence through hands-on design projects.
The Design and Technology Teacher will guide students through the complete design process, developing their technical knowledge, practical abilities, problem-solving skills, and understanding of how successful products are created.
D&T Teacher Responsibilities:
- Plan practical and theory-based lessons aligned with the D&T curriculum
- Demonstrate safe and effective use of tools, machinery, materials, and specialist equipment
- Guide young people through research, designing, prototyping, making, and evaluation
- Set creative challenges that encourage experimentation and independent problem-solving
- Assess project work and provide constructive feedback to support further development
- Maintain appropriate health and safety standards during all workshop activities
DT Teacher Requirements:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or a recognised equivalent teaching qualification
- Sound knowledge of the secondary Design and Technology curriculum
- Practical understanding of relevant materials, processes, and workshop equipment
- Previous experience delivering D&T lessons at secondary level is advantageous
- Strong classroom management skills, particularly within practical learning environments
- Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply)
