Job Title: Cover Supervisor
Location: Barnsley
Pay Rate: £460 - £650 per week (depending on experience)
Start Date: Immediate
Contract: Full-time/ Part-time, Day-to-day/ Long-term
Are you confident leading a classroom and keeping students focused, organised, and engaged when their usual teacher is away?
GSL Education South Yorkshire Branch are recruiting dependable and adaptable Cover Supervisor (CS) to work in inclusive schools throughout Barnsley. This position would suit individuals who can take responsibility for a class, communicate instructions clearly, and create a purposeful atmosphere while students complete work prepared by their regular teacher.
As a CS, you will ensure continuity of learning during teacher absence, supervising lessons across different subjects while maintaining appropriate standards of behaviour and participation.
Cover Supervisor Responsibilities:
- Oversee pre-planned lessons across a variety of curriculum subjects
- Communicate assigned tasks clearly and respond to basic questions about the work
- Maintain classroom expectations and address minor behavioural issues appropriately
- Motivate learners to remain focused and complete activities within the allocated time
- Follow school procedures when additional assistance or intervention is required
- Share relevant feedback with teaching staff regarding engagement, conduct, and completed work
Cover Supervisor Requirements:
- Experience working with young people through education, coaching, mentoring, or similar settings is advantageous
- Confidence managing groups and establishing clear classroom expectations
- Strong verbal communication and interpersonal abilities
- Understanding of appropriate behaviour management techniques
- Flexible approach to supervising different subjects, age groups, and abilities
- Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply)
