GSL Education South Yorkshire Branch are currently seeking a creative and knowledgeable Design and Technology Teacher to work with a school in Sheffield. This is an opportunity for a teacher who can combine strong subject knowledge with practical learning and encourage pupils to develop their creativity, problem-solving and technical abilities.
As a Design and Technology Teacher, you will:
- Plan and deliver engaging D&T lessons that meet curriculum requirements.
- Develop students' practical, creative and technical skills.
- Encourage independent thinking and problem-solving through project-based learning.
- Prepare suitable resources, materials and equipment for practical activities.
- Ensure students follow appropriate health and safety procedures.
- Assess pupils' work and provide constructive feedback.
- Maintain positive behaviour and an engaging classroom environment.
Requirements for the Design and Technology Teacher role:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent is essential to be a D&T Teacher.
- Strong subject knowledge across relevant areas of Design and Technology.
- Previous experience teaching D&T within a school setting is desirable.
- Confident classroom and practical-work management skills.
- Ability to engage pupils with different abilities and learning needs.
- Strong communication, organisation and planning skills.
- Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) certificate on the Update Service, or willingness to apply.
- Good understanding of safeguarding and child protection.
Your practical approach can help pupils see how classroom learning connects with real-world skills. The school is looking for someone who can make lessons purposeful, engaging and accessible to a range of learners.
