Job Title: Attendance Officer
Location: Sheffield
Pay Rate: £460 - £600 per week (depending on experience)
Start Date: Immediate
Contract: Full-time/ Part-time, Day-to-day/ Long-term

GSL Education South Yorkshire Branch are seeking reliable and detail-oriented Attendance Officers to work in schools across Sheffield. We would like to hear from individuals who can monitor attendance accurately, communicate professionally with families, and work collaboratively with school teams to identify and address patterns of absence or persistent lateness.
As an Attendance Officer, you will support effective attendance management by maintaining accurate records, following up unexplained absences, and helping the school address barriers that may affect regular attendance.
Attendance Officer Responsibilities:
- Monitor daily attendance and punctuality using the school’s recording systems
- Follow up unexplained absences and identify recurring attendance concerns
- Communicate with parents and carers regarding absence, lateness, and attendance expectations
- Maintain accurate records of contacts, interventions, and agreed actions
- Produce attendance information and reports for relevant school staff
- Liaise with pastoral and safeguarding teams when additional support or intervention is required
Attendance Officer Requirements:
- Experience within school administration, attendance, pastoral support, or a similar role is desirable
- Strong organisational skills with careful attention to detail
- Confidence handling sensitive and confidential information appropriately
- Ability to communicate professionally with families, students, and colleagues
- Competence using administrative systems and maintaining accurate records
- Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply)
