Salary Scale: £34,068 to £52,834 per annum (MPS/UPS)

GSL Education Hull Branch are currently recruiting for a creative, enthusiastic, and dedicated Teacher of Music to work within a supportive secondary school environment in North Yorkshire. This is an excellent opportunity for a passionate Music teacher who can deliver engaging lessons and encourage students to develop their confidence, practical skills, and musical understanding.
About the Role
As a Teacher of Music, you will deliver engaging and varied lessons across the secondary Music curriculum, supporting students to develop both their theoretical knowledge and practical abilities. You will encourage creativity, collaboration, and self-expression while creating a positive and inclusive learning environment.
Core Responsibilities of the Teacher of Music:
- Plan and deliver engaging Music lessons that meet curriculum requirements and learning objectives.
- Develop students’ musical knowledge, performance skills, creativity, and confidence.
- Provide opportunities for students to develop practical skills through singing, instrumental performance, composition, and music technology where appropriate.
- Differentiate teaching and learning activities to support students with varying abilities and needs.
- Maintain positive behaviour and create a safe, inclusive, and purposeful classroom environment.
- Assess and monitor student progress, providing constructive feedback to support musical and academic development.
As the Ideal Teacher of Music, You Should Have:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
- Strong subject knowledge and practical experience across a range of musical disciplines.
- Previous experience teaching Music within a secondary school setting.
- Confidence delivering both theoretical and practical aspects of the Music curriculum.
- Excellent classroom management, communication, and organisational skills.
- A creative, enthusiastic, and student-focused approach to teaching and learning.
To Work with GSL Education, You Must:
- Have the right to work in the UK.
- Provide an up-to-date CV and references covering the last 2 years.
- Have recent experience working with children or young people.
- Hold an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or be willing to apply for one.
