Location: North Yorkshire
Contract: Temporary, Full-Time, Part Time, Term Time Only
Start Date: As Soon As Possible
Salary: £25 – £35 per hour (Depending on experience)

GSL Education Hull Branch are currently recruiting for a dedicated, patient, and knowledgeable English Tutor to provide one-to-one support to a student in North Yorkshire. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced tutor or teacher who can adapt their approach to individual learning needs and provide focused academic support.
About the Role
As a One-to-One English Tutor, you will provide personalised support tailored to the student’s individual abilities, learning goals, and areas for development. You will help build confidence in English while developing key skills across reading, writing, comprehension, and communication. The role requires someone who can establish a positive learning relationship and create engaging, focused sessions.
Core Responsibilities of the English Tutor:
- Deliver engaging one-to-one English tutoring sessions tailored to the student’s individual needs.
- Support the development of reading, writing, spelling, grammar, comprehension, and communication skills.
- Identify areas for development and adapt teaching strategies to address individual learning gaps.
- Build the student’s confidence, motivation, and independence through positive and encouraging support.
- Monitor progress and provide constructive feedback to support continued academic development.
- Maintain a calm, supportive, and focused learning environment throughout each session.
As the Ideal English Tutor, You Should Have:
- Strong subject knowledge across English, particularly at secondary level.
- Previous experience delivering one-to-one tuition or providing individualised academic support.
- A relevant English degree, teaching qualification, or equivalent subject expertise.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to explain concepts clearly and patiently.
- Ability to adapt teaching approaches to suit individual learning styles and needs.
- A passionate, encouraging, and student-focused approach to tutoring.
To Work with GSL Education, You Must:
- Have the right to work in the UK.
- Provide an up-to-date CV and references covering the last 2 years.
- Have recent experience working with children or young people.
- Hold an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or be willing to apply for one.
