Salary Scale: £102 – £120 per day (Depending on experience)

GSL Education Hull Branch are currently seeking an Advanced Teaching Assistant to work in a secondary school in York. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled and proactive education professional who can work closely with teachers, provide targeted intervention and contribute meaningfully to pupils’ academic, social and personal development.
Advanced Teaching Assistant Role:
The successful Advanced Teaching Assistant will take on a varied role supporting teaching and learning across the school. You will provide individual and small-group assistance, help deliver planned activities and support pupils who may require additional guidance, while maintaining high expectations for learning and behaviour.
Advanced Teaching Assistant Responsibilities:
- Deliver planned learning activities and targeted interventions to individuals and small groups.
- Provide tailored support to pupils who require additional help with their learning or engagement.
- Work alongside teachers to prepare resources and support effective classroom learning.
- Encourage pupils to develop confidence, independence and positive attitudes towards education.
- Monitor pupil progress and provide relevant feedback to teachers and wider support staff.
- Contribute to positive classroom management and help maintain a safe, inclusive and purposeful learning environment.
Advanced Teaching Assistant Requirements:
- Previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant or in a similar school-based support role is essential.
- A relevant Level 3 qualification in Supporting Teaching and Learning or an equivalent qualification is desirable.
- Strong understanding of effective classroom support and the ability to deliver learning activities confidently.
- Excellent communication, organisation and interpersonal skills.
- A proactive, reliable and adaptable approach, with a commitment to safeguarding and pupil wellbeing.
- An up-to-date CV covering the last 10 years, with any employment gaps explained
- An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to apply for one.
