Job Title: SEMH Support Staff (Primary)
Location: Doncaster
Salary: £460 – £600 per week (depending on experience and qualifications)
Contract Type: Long-term / Temporary, Full-time / Part-time

Are you passionate about helping children manage emotional and behavioural challenges and get the most from their education? A supportive primary school in Doncaster is seeking dedicated SEMH Support Staff to help pupils feel settled, engaged and ready to learn.
About the Role:
As a member of the SEMH support team, you will provide practical and emotional support to pupils who may experience difficulties with behaviour, emotional regulation, communication or engagement. Working alongside teachers and other school staff, you will help children manage the school day and access learning in a calm and structured environment.
You may work with pupils individually or in small groups, supporting classroom activities, transitions and positive behaviour. Your consistency and patience will help pupils build confidence and develop greater independence.

Responsibilities:

Provide one-to-one and small-group support to pupils with SEMH needs.

Support children with emotional regulation, behaviour and engagement.

Work alongside class teachers to help pupils access learning.

Encourage positive participation in classroom activities and school routines.

Support pupils during transitions and less structured parts of the school day.

Promote a calm, safe and consistent learning environment.

Help pupils develop confidence, resilience and independence.

Share relevant observations and feedback with teachers and other staff.
Requirements:

Previous experience working with children or young people is desirable.

Experience supporting pupils with SEMH, behaviour or additional needs is advantageous.

A calm, patient and consistent approach.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Ability to respond sensitively to individual pupil needs.

Confidence working as part of a wider school team.

A genuine commitment to helping children overcome barriers to learning.

Have the right to work in the UK.

Have an up-to-date CV with two relevant references from within the last two years.

Have an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service or be willing to apply for one through GSL Education.
Please be advised that this role requires a strong knowledge and understanding of safeguarding and child protection and that successful applicants must satisfy all background safer recruitment checks including providing an enhanced DBS certificate registered on the update service, or completing an application for a new check.
