Job Title: Teaching Assistant (Primary)
Location: Chesterfield
Salary: £460 – £600 per week (depending on experience and qualifications)
Contract Type: Long-term / Temporary, Full-time / Part-time

Are you passionate about helping children learn, grow and feel confident in the classroom? A welcoming primary school in Chesterfield is looking for a caring and dedicated Teaching Assistant to support pupils across the school.
About the Role:
As a Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with the class teacher to support pupils with their learning and day-to-day development. You may provide one-to-one or small-group support, assist with classroom activities and help children stay engaged throughout the school day.
Depending on the year group, you could support early learning in EYFS, phonics and core subjects in KS1, or help KS2 pupils develop their confidence and independence. You will also provide age-appropriate pastoral and behavioural support where needed.

Responsibilities:

Support pupils with classroom learning across EYFS, KS1 or KS2.

Work alongside the class teacher to deliver engaging learning activities.

Provide one-to-one and small-group support where required.

Assist with phonics, reading, writing and numeracy activities.

Encourage positive behaviour, participation and independence.

Support pupils with age-appropriate pastoral and emotional needs.

Help maintain a calm, safe and positive classroom environment.

Share relevant observations and feedback with the class teacher.
Requirements:

Previous experience working with children or young people is desirable.

Experience in a primary school or education setting is advantageous.

A patient, caring and encouraging approach.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
-
Ability to support pupils across different ages and abilities.

Confidence working alongside teachers and other school staff.

A genuine commitment to helping children make progress.

Have an up-to-date CV with two relevant references from within the last two years.

Have an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service or be willing to apply for one through GSL Education.
Please be advised that this role requires a strong knowledge and understanding of safeguarding and child protection and that successful applicants must satisfy all background safer recruitment checks including providing an enhanced DBS certificate registered on the update service, or completing an application for a new check.
