Salary: £460 – £600 per week (depending on experience and qualifications)

About the Role:
As a SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will provide tailored support to pupils who may experience challenges with behaviour, emotional regulation, communication or engagement in learning. You will work closely with teachers and other staff to help pupils feel settled, manage the school day and access their education successfully.
Your day-to-day responsibilities may include one-to-one and small-group support, helping pupils manage challenging situations and encouraging positive participation in lessons. You will also help maintain clear and consistent boundaries while building positive professional relationships with pupils.

Responsibilities:

Provide one-to-one and small-group support to pupils with SEMH needs.

Support pupils with emotional regulation, behaviour and engagement.

Work alongside teachers to help pupils access classroom learning.

Encourage positive participation and develop pupils' confidence and independence.

Help pupils manage transitions, routines and changes throughout the school day.

Promote a calm, safe and structured learning environment.

Build positive and professional relationships with pupils while maintaining appropriate boundaries.

Share relevant observations and feedback with teachers and other staff.
Requirements:
-
Previous experience working with children or young people is desirable.

Experience supporting pupils with SEMH, behaviour or additional needs is advantageous.

A calm, patient and resilient approach.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Ability to remain consistent when supporting pupils with challenging behaviour.

Ability to work effectively as part of a wider school team.

A genuine commitment to helping young people overcome barriers to learning.

Have the right to work in the UK.

Have an up-to-date CV with two relevant references from within the last two years.

Have an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service or be willing to apply for one through GSL Education.
Please be advised that this role requires a strong knowledge and understanding of safeguarding and child protection and that successful applicants must satisfy all background safer recruitment checks including providing an enhanced DBS certificate registered on the update service, or completing an application for a new check.
