Job Title: SEN Teaching Assistant

Salary: £460 – £600 per week (depending on experience and qualifications)
Contract Type: Long-term / Temporary, Full-time / Part-time

Are you passionate about helping pupils with additional needs access learning and make progress? A supportive school in Sheffield is looking for a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join its team.
About the Role:
As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will provide tailored support to pupils who may need additional help with learning, communication, behaviour or emotional regulation. Working alongside teachers and other support staff, you will help pupils engage with classroom activities and develop greater confidence and independence.
Your day-to-day work may include one-to-one support, small-group activities and helping pupils manage the routines and expectations of the school day.

Responsibilities:

Provide one-to-one and small-group support to pupils with SEN.

Assist teachers with classroom activities and learning tasks.

Support pupils with communication, behaviour and emotional regulation where required.

Adapt activities and provide additional guidance to help pupils access learning.

Encourage positive participation and develop pupils' confidence and independence.

Build positive, professional relationships with pupils while maintaining clear boundaries.

Share relevant observations and feedback with teachers and other members of staff.
Requirements:

Previous experience working with children or young people is desirable.

Experience supporting pupils with SEN or additional needs is advantageous.

A patient, calm and understanding approach.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Ability to work effectively alongside teachers and support staff.

A genuine commitment to helping pupils overcome barriers to learning.

Resilience and flexibility when responding to individual pupil needs.
To work with GSL Education as a SEN Teaching Assistant, you should:

Have the right to work in the UK.

Have an up-to-date CV with two relevant references from within the last two years.

Have an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service or be willing to apply for one through GSL Education.
Please be advised that this role requires a strong knowledge and understanding of safeguarding and child protection and that successful applicants must satisfy all background safer recruitment checks including providing an enhanced DBS certificate registered on the update service, or completing an application for a new check.
