Job Title: Sports Coach / Learning Support
Location: Doncaster
Salary: £500 – £650 per week (depending on experience and qualifications)
Contract Type: Long-term / Temporary, Full-time / Part-time

Do you have a background in sport or coaching and enjoy helping young people stay focused, motivated and engaged? A supportive school in Doncaster is looking for a Sports Coach / Learning Support professional to provide classroom-based support.
About the Role:
This is a school-based learning support role rather than a sports delivery position. You will work alongside teachers to support pupils in the classroom, assist with behaviour management and help students remain engaged with their learning.
Your experience in sport can bring valuable transferable skills such as resilience, structure, teamwork, communication and positive behaviour management. Sport is your background, but your main responsibility will be supporting pupils with their education and day-to-day school experience.

Responsibilities:

Provide classroom-based support to pupils across the school.

Assist teachers with learning activities, engagement and behaviour management.

Support pupils who may require additional help with their learning or behaviour.

Provide cover supervision when required, following the work set by teaching staff.

Build positive relationships with pupils while maintaining appropriate boundaries.

Use transferable skills from sport and coaching to encourage focus, resilience and positive behaviour.

Support a calm, safe and structured classroom environment.
Requirements:

Experience in sport, coaching, fitness or a related setting is desirable.

Previous experience working with children or young people is advantageous.

Strong communication, teamwork and interpersonal skills.

A calm, patient and consistent approach to behaviour management.

Ability to motivate and engage pupils in a classroom environment.

Willingness to support pupils with their learning rather than deliver sports sessions.

Education, classroom support or SEN experience is advantageous.
To work with GSL Education as a Sports Coach / Learning Support, you should:

Have the right to work in the UK.

Have an up-to-date CV with two relevant references from within the last two years.

Have an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service or be willing to apply for one through GSL Education.
Please be advised that this role requires a strong knowledge and understanding of safeguarding and child protection and that successful applicants must satisfy all background safer recruitment checks including providing an enhanced DBS certificate registered on the update service, or completing an application for a new check.
