Job Title: Cover Supervisor
Location: Sheffield
Salary: £460 – £650 per week (depending on experience and qualifications)
Contract Type: Long-term / Temporary, Full-time / Part-time

Are you confident managing a classroom and keen to support students in their learning? A welcoming secondary school in Sheffield is looking for a reliable Cover Supervisor to join their team.
About the Role:
As a Cover Supervisor, you will supervise classes across different subjects when their usual teacher is unavailable. You will follow lesson plans, maintain a positive learning environment and ensure students remain focused and engaged with their work. This role offers the opportunity to gain experience across different departments while building strong relationships with students and staff.

Responsibilities:

Supervise classes across Key Stages 3 and 4 in the absence of the usual teacher.

Follow provided lesson plans and ensure students understand the work set.

Maintain good classroom behaviour and deal with any issues calmly and appropriately.

Support students to stay focused and complete their work.

Manage lesson transitions and maintain a safe, orderly classroom environment.

Report any relevant concerns or feedback to teaching and pastoral staff.
Requirements:

Previous experience working with children or young people is desirable.

Confident classroom management and strong communication skills.

A calm, organised and professional approach.

Ability to follow lesson plans and work independently when required.

Ability to build positive relationships with secondary-aged students.

Experience in an education setting or a relevant qualification is advantageous.

Have the right to work in the UK.

Have an up-to-date CV with two relevant references from within the last two years.

Have an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service or be willing to apply for one through GSL Education.
Please be advised that this role requires a strong knowledge and understanding of safeguarding and child protection and that successful applicants must satisfy all background safer recruitment checks including providing an enhanced DBS certificate registered on the update service, or completing an application for a new check.
