Job Title: Motor Vehicle / Mechanic Instructor
Location: Wakefield (WF1)
Pay Rate: £130 - £180 per day (depending on experience)
Start Date: Immediate
Contract: Full-time/ Part-time, Day-to-day/ Long-term

GSL Education South Yorkshire Branch are seeking a knowledgeable and practically skilled Motor Vehicle / Mechanic Instructor to work within an educational setting in Wakefield (WF1). This opportunity would suit an experienced automotive professional or instructor who can demonstrate mechanical processes clearly, supervise practical activities, and help learners develop valuable industry-relevant skills.
As a Motor Vehicle or Mechanic Instructor, you will combine technical instruction with hands-on workshop learning, supporting students as they develop their understanding of vehicle systems, maintenance, diagnostics, and safe working practices.
Motor Vehicle / Mechanic Instructor Responsibilities:
- Deliver practical instruction covering vehicle maintenance and mechanical principles
- Demonstrate correct procedures for inspecting, servicing, and repairing vehicle components
- Guide learners through workshop-based tasks and technical exercises
- Explain the operation of key automotive systems using clear, accessible methods
- Monitor practical work and provide constructive feedback on skills development
- Maintain appropriate workshop health and safety standards during all activities
Motor Vehicle / Mechanic Instructor Requirements:
- Relevant experience within motor vehicle maintenance, mechanics, or the automotive industry
- Automotive or mechanical qualifications is desirable
- Practical knowledge of vehicle systems, servicing, diagnostics, and repair procedures
- Ability to communicate technical information effectively to learners
- Confidence supervising practical activities within a workshop environment
- Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply)
