Job Title:Cover Supervisor
Location: Selby, North Yorkshire
Contract Type: Temporary, Supply, Full-Time
Start Date: As Soon As Possible
Salary Scale: £102 – £120 per day (Depending on experience)
Are you confident managing a classroom and passionate about supporting pupils to stay focused and engaged with their learning? GSL Education Hull Branch are currently recruiting a reliable and proactive Cover Supervisor to work in an educational setting in Selby.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who can confidently supervise classes in the absence of the usual teacher, maintain a positive learning environment, and ensure pupils remain focused on their work.
Main Responsibilities:
- Supervise classes in the absence of the regular teacher, ensuring pupils complete the work provided.
- Deliver clear instructions and explain lesson tasks and expectations to pupils.
- Maintain positive classroom behaviour and uphold appropriate standards throughout lessons.
- Support pupils with their learning where appropriate, while encouraging independence and engagement.
- Complete basic classroom administration, including recording attendance and reporting any concerns or incidents.
- Work collaboratively with teaching and support staff to ensure continuity of learning across the school day.
Minimum Requirements:
- Previous experience working with children or young people in an educational, youth work, mentoring, or similar setting is desirable.
- Strong classroom management skills and the confidence to maintain appropriate boundaries.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to give clear instructions.
- A calm, organised, and adaptable approach when working with different age groups and abilities.
- A genuine commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
- An Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service, or willingness to apply for one.
