Job Title: SEMH Support Staff (Primary)
Location: Doncaster
Salary: £460 - £600 per week (depending on experience and qualifications)
Contract Type: Long-term / Temporary, Full-time / Part-time

Are you passionate about helping children manage challenges, build confidence and engage positively with school life? A supportive primary school in Doncaster is looking for dedicated SEMH Support Staff to work closely with pupils who need additional emotional and behavioural support.
About the Role:
As SEMH Support Staff, you will provide day-to-day support for pupils who may experience difficulties with emotional regulation, behaviour, communication or engagement. Working alongside the class teacher and wider school team, you will help pupils access learning while providing consistent encouragement and clear boundaries.
You may support children individually, in small groups or within the classroom across EYFS, KS1 and KS2. The role will involve helping pupils develop positive routines, manage challenging situations and take part in age-appropriate learning and activities.

Responsibilities:

Provide classroom and individual support to pupils with SEMH needs.

Help pupils manage emotions and develop positive behaviour strategies.

Work alongside class teachers to support learning and engagement.

Build consistent, professional relationships with pupils.

Support children across EYFS, KS1 or KS2 according to their needs.

Encourage positive participation in lessons and school routines.

Respond calmly and appropriately to challenging behaviour.

Monitor pupils' engagement and share relevant observations with teaching staff.
Requirements:

Previous experience supporting children or young people with SEMH needs is desirable.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

A calm, patient and resilient approach.

Confidence managing challenging behaviour and maintaining clear boundaries.

Ability to build positive professional relationships with pupils.

Good understanding of the importance of consistency and routine.

Ability to work effectively as part of a wider school team.

Primary, SEN, pastoral or behaviour support experience is advantageous.

Have the right to work in the UK.

Have an up-to-date CV with two relevant references from within the last two years.

Have an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service or be willing to apply for one through GSL Education.
Please be advised that this role requires a strong knowledge and understanding of safeguarding and child protection and that successful applicants must satisfy all background safer recruitment checks including providing an enhanced DBS certificate registered on the update service, or completing an application for a new check.
