Job Title: Teaching Assistant (Primary)
Location: Chesterfield
Salary: £460 - £600 per week (depending on experience and qualifications)
Contract Type: Long-term / Temporary, Full-time / Part-time

Are you passionate about helping children learn, grow in confidence and enjoy their time at school? A welcoming primary school in Chesterfield is looking for a caring and dependable Teaching Assistant to support pupils across the school.
About the Role:
As a Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with the class teacher to support learning throughout the school day. You may work with pupils individually, in small groups or as part of the wider classroom, helping with early learning, literacy, numeracy and age-appropriate activities. You will also support positive behaviour, encourage participation and help pupils feel settled and ready to learn.
The role may involve supporting children across EYFS, KS1 or KS2, depending on the needs of the school. It offers the opportunity to gain valuable experience across different areas of primary education while making a genuine difference to pupils' day-to-day learning.

Responsibilities:

Support the class teacher with learning activities and daily classroom routines.

Work with pupils individually and in small groups to reinforce learning.

Provide support across EYFS, KS1 or KS2 where required.

Assist with literacy, numeracy and other age-appropriate learning activities.

Encourage positive behaviour, confidence and participation.

Provide appropriate pastoral support and help pupils manage the school day.

Support pupils with additional learning needs where required.

Maintain a safe, calm and positive classroom environment.
Requirements:

Previous experience working with children in a school, nursery or similar setting is desirable.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

A patient, caring and consistent approach.

Confidence supporting children of different ages and abilities.

Ability to follow guidance from the class teacher and work well as part of a team.

A genuine interest in helping children achieve their potential.
-
Primary, EYFS, SEN or classroom support experience is advantageous.

Have the right to work in the UK.

Have an up-to-date CV with two relevant references from within the last two years.

Have an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service or be willing to apply for one through GSL Education.
Please be advised that this role requires a strong knowledge and understanding of safeguarding and child protection and that successful applicants must satisfy all background safer recruitment checks including providing an enhanced DBS certificate registered on the update service, or completing an application for a new check.
