Are you a caring and enthusiastic Nursery Practitioner looking for a rewarding opportunity in a unique early years setting?
Would you enjoy supporting young children through play, creativity, outdoor learning and meaningful day-to-day experiences?
GSL Education Kent are currently seeking a dedicated Nursery Practitioner to join a welcoming and values-led early years setting in Canterbury. This is an exciting opportunity for a Nursery Practitioner who is passionate about early childhood development and would enjoy working within a calm, nurturing, and child-centred environment.
Importantly, the nursery is looking to appoint the successful candidate as a permanent member of their own staff following a successful trial period and interview. This makes the role an excellent opportunity for a Nursery Practitioner seeking a long-term career within a supportive early years environment.
The setting provides care and learning for children aged 0–6 years and follows a holistic, Steiner Waldorf-inspired approach. The environment places a strong emphasis on nature, imaginative play, storytelling, movement, creativity, and practical experiences. Children are given the time and space to develop at their own pace, with outdoor learning playing an important part in their daily experiences. The setting is surrounded by natural outdoor spaces, gardens, and opportunities for children to explore and engage with their environment.
As a Nursery Practitioner, you will be expected to:
- Provide warm, nurturing, and attentive care for children aged 0–6.
- Support children's learning and development through play-based activities and everyday experiences.
- Encourage children's social, emotional, physical and communication development.
- Support outdoor learning, creative activities, storytelling, movement, and imaginative play.
- Build positive and trusting relationships with children, families, and colleagues.
- Observe children's development and respond appropriately to their individual needs and interests.
- Help maintain a safe, welcoming, and stimulating learning environment.
- Follow safeguarding, health and safety and early years policies and procedures.
- Promote a calm, respectful and child-centred approach to behaviour management.
- Work collaboratively as part of a supportive early years team.
To be considered for this Nursery Practitioner role, candidates should:
- Hold a relevant Level 2 or Level 3 Early Years / Childcare qualification or have relevant early years experience.
- Have previous experience working with children in a nursery, kindergarten, pre-school, or early years environment.
- Have a genuine passion for supporting young children's development and wellbeing.
- Be warm, patient, reliable and nurturing in your approach.
- Be confident supporting children through play and practical, hands-on activities.
- Have a good understanding of safeguarding and child protection.
- Have the right to work in the UK and be willing to undergo an enhanced DBS check.
GSL Education offers:
- Competitive daily rates of pay.
- Flexible full-time and part-time opportunities.
- Access to a wide network of schools and early years settings across Kent.
- Dedicated support from experienced education consultants.
- Opportunities for long-term and permanent positions.
- Professional development and training opportunities.
- A straightforward registration and onboarding process.
GSL Education is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. All applicants must be willing to undergo the appropriate checks, including an enhanced DBS check, references and other relevant safeguarding and compliance checks.
