Job Title: Cover Supervisor
Location: Worksop
Salary: £460 – £650 per week (depending on experience and qualifications)
Contract Type: Long-term / Temporary, Full-time / Part-time

Do you have the confidence to lead a classroom and keep pupils engaged when their usual teacher is unavailable? A supportive secondary school in Worksop is seeking a reliable Cover Supervisor to help maintain continuity in learning and provide effective classroom supervision.
About the Role:
As a Cover Supervisor, you will oversee lessons across a range of subjects, following work and instructions left by teaching staff. You will ensure pupils understand their tasks, remain focused and follow classroom expectations throughout the lesson.
The role offers variety across the school day, with opportunities to work with different groups of students while building your classroom management and education experience.

Responsibilities:

Supervise classes and ensure students complete the work provided.

Give clear instructions and support pupils with lesson activities where appropriate.

Maintain a calm, focused and orderly classroom environment.

Manage behaviour consistently in line with school expectations.

Encourage pupils to remain engaged and take responsibility for their learning.

Support students across different subjects and year groups.

Communicate relevant information and concerns to teaching staff.

Ensure pupils remain safe and appropriately supervised throughout lessons.
Requirements:

Previous experience working with children or young people is desirable.

Confident communication and classroom management skills.

A calm, patient and consistent approach to behaviour management.

Ability to establish clear boundaries and maintain professional relationships.

Good organisation and the confidence to work independently.

A genuine interest in supporting young people in an educational setting.

Previous school, youth work or education experience is advantageous.

Have the right to work in the UK.

Have an up-to-date CV with two relevant references from within the last two years.

Have an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service or be willing to apply for one through GSL Education.
Please be advised that this role requires a strong knowledge and understanding of safeguarding and child protection and that successful applicants must satisfy all background safer recruitment checks including providing an enhanced DBS certificate registered on the update service, or completing an application for a new check.
