Job Title: Teaching Assistant (Secondary)

Salary: £460 – £600 per week (depending on experience and qualifications)
Contract Type: Long-term / Temporary, Full-time / Part-time

Are you passionate about helping young people make progress and feel confident in the classroom? A supportive secondary school in Doncaster is looking for a dedicated Teaching Assistant to work alongside teachers and provide valuable support to pupils across the school.
About the Role:
As a Teaching Assistant (Secondary), you will support students across Key Stages 3 and 4, helping them engage with lessons and overcome barriers to learning. You will work alongside subject teachers in different departments, provide one-to-one or small-group support where needed, and help students stay focused during lessons and transitions.
You may also support pupils with additional needs, behaviour or emotional regulation, making this a varied role where patience, consistency and strong communication are important.

Responsibilities:

Provide classroom and learning support to pupils across Key Stages 3 and 4.

Work alongside subject teachers to help students access lesson content.

Support individuals and small groups with their learning and development.

Assist pupils who may need additional support with behaviour, confidence or engagement.

Encourage students to participate positively in lessons and manage transitions effectively.

Support students with their GCSE preparation where appropriate.

Build positive and professional relationships with pupils.

Share relevant observations and feedback with teaching and pastoral staff.
Requirements:

Previous experience working with children or young people is desirable.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

A patient, calm and consistent approach to supporting adolescent learners.

Confidence working alongside different subject teachers and departments.

Ability to manage behaviour appropriately and maintain clear boundaries.

A genuine commitment to helping young people succeed in education.

Experience in a secondary school, SEN or classroom support setting is advantageous.

Have an up-to-date CV with two relevant references from within the last two years.

Have an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service or be willing to apply for one through GSL Education.
Please be advised that this role requires a strong knowledge and understanding of safeguarding and child protection and that successful applicants must satisfy all background safer recruitment checks including providing an enhanced DBS certificate registered on the update service, or completing an application for a new check.
