Job Title: Cover Supervisor
Location: Sheffield
Salary: £460 – £650 per week (depending on experience and qualifications)
Contract Type: Long-term / Temporary, Full-time / Part-time

Are you confident leading a classroom and able to keep students focused and engaged? A welcoming secondary school in Sheffield is looking for a reliable Cover Supervisor to join their team and provide consistent classroom support.

About the Role:
As a Cover Supervisor, you will oversee classes in the absence of the regular teacher, ensuring students remain engaged with the work provided and classroom expectations are maintained. You will provide clear instructions, manage behaviour calmly and confidently, and create a focused environment that allows learning to continue effectively throughout the day.
Responsibilities:

Supervise classes and ensure students complete the work provided by teaching staff.

Deliver clear instructions and explain tasks where appropriate.

Maintain a calm, orderly and productive classroom environment.

Manage behaviour in line with the school's expectations and policies.

Support students with their learning and encourage positive participation.

Report any relevant issues or concerns to teaching and pastoral staff.

Ensure students remain safe and focused throughout lessons.
Requirements:
-
Previous experience working with children or young people is desirable.

Confident classroom management and communication skills.

A calm, consistent and professional approach to behaviour management.

Ability to give clear instructions and maintain student engagement.

Ability to work independently while contributing positively to the wider school team.

A genuine interest in supporting students and their education.
To work with GSL Education as a Cover Supervisor, you should:

Have the right to work in the UK.

Have an up-to-date CV with two relevant references from within the last two years.

Have an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service or be willing to apply for one through GSL Education.
Please be advised that this role requires a strong knowledge and understanding of safeguarding and child protection and that successful applicants must satisfy all background safer recruitment checks including providing an enhanced DBS certificate registered on the update service, or completing an application for a new check.
