Job Title: SEN Teaching Assistant
Location: Scarborough, North Yorkshire
Contract Type: Temporary, Supply, Full-Time
Start Date: As Soon As Possible
Salary Scale: £92 – £115 per day (Depending on experience)

GSL Education Hull Branch are currently seeking an SEN Teaching Assistant to work in a supportive educational setting in Scarborough. This is a rewarding opportunity for a caring and committed individual who can provide tailored support to pupils, helping them access learning, develop independence and participate positively in school life.
SEN Teaching Assistant Role:
The successful SEN Teaching Assistant will work closely with teachers and wider support staff to provide individualised assistance to pupils with a range of additional needs. You will help create a safe and inclusive environment while supporting pupils’ academic, social, emotional and communication development.
SEN Teaching Assistant Responsibilities:
- Provide one-to-one and small-group support to pupils with SEN and additional learning needs.
- Assist pupils with classroom activities, learning tasks and personalised programmes.
- Adapt your approach to support individual communication, social, emotional and developmental needs.
- Encourage positive behaviour, confidence and greater independence in learning.
- Build positive relationships with pupils and provide consistent support throughout the school day.
- Work collaboratively with teachers and support staff to monitor pupil engagement and progress.
SEN Teaching Assistant Requirements:
- Previous experience supporting children or young people with SEN or additional needs is desirable.
- A patient, compassionate and flexible approach to working with pupils with varying needs.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to build trusting relationships with children.
- Confidence supporting pupils who may experience behavioural, social, emotional or learning barriers.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a wider school team and follow individual support strategies.
- An up-to-date CV covering the last 10 years, with any employment gaps explained
- An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to apply for one.
