GSL Education Hull Branch are currently seeking a Teaching Assistant to work in a supportive educational setting in Scarborough. This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who can provide consistent classroom support, build positive relationships with pupils and help create an inclusive environment where every learner can make progress.

Teaching Assistant Role:

The successful Teaching Assistant will work closely with teachers and wider support staff to provide tailored assistance throughout the school day. You will support pupils with their learning and development while encouraging communication, independence, positive behaviour and participation in classroom activities.

Teaching Assistant Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-to-one and small-group support to pupils during lessons and learning activities.
  • Assist teachers with classroom tasks, resources and activities to help pupils access the curriculum.
  • Support pupils’ communication, social interaction, confidence and independence.
  • Encourage positive behaviour and help pupils remain engaged and focused on their learning.
  • Adapt your approach to meet individual learning, developmental and emotional needs.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers and support staff to monitor pupil progress and provide consistent support.

Teaching Assistant Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with children or young people in a school, care, youth or educational setting is desirable.
  • A patient, nurturing and adaptable approach to supporting pupils with different needs.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive, trusting relationships with children.
  • Confidence in supporting pupils who may experience learning, behavioural, social or emotional barriers.
  • A proactive and reliable approach, with the ability to work effectively as part of a wider school team.
  • An up-to-date CV covering the last 10 years, with any employment gaps explained
  • An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to apply for one.
