Job Title: Teaching Assistant (Primary)

Location: Chesterfield

Salary: £460 – £600 per week (depending on experience and qualifications)

Contract Type: Long-term / Temporary, Full-time / Part-time

Start Date: Immediate start

Do you enjoy helping children learn, grow in confidence and make progress in the classroom? A welcoming primary school in Chesterfield is looking for a caring and reliable Teaching Assistant to join its team.

About the Role:

As a Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with the class teacher to support pupils throughout the school day. You will assist with learning activities, help individual pupils and small groups, and provide encouragement with both academic and pastoral needs. Depending on the year group, you may support children across EYFS, KS1 or KS2 while helping to maintain a positive and well-structured classroom.

Responsibilities:

  • Support the class teacher with daily classroom activities and learning tasks.

  • Provide one-to-one and small-group support where needed.

  • Assist pupils with their learning across EYFS, KS1 or KS2.

  • Encourage positive behaviour and engagement throughout the school day.

  • Support children with their social, emotional and pastoral needs.

  • Help prepare classroom resources and maintain an organised learning environment.

  • Share relevant observations and feedback with the class teacher.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with children in a school or educational setting is desirable.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

  • A patient, caring and consistent approach to supporting children.

  • Ability to work effectively alongside teachers and other school staff.

  • A genuine interest in helping pupils achieve their potential.

  • Experience supporting pupils with additional needs or SEN is advantageous.

  • Have the right to work in the UK.

  • Have an up-to-date CV with two relevant references from within the last two years.

  • Have an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service or be willing to apply for one through GSL Education.

Please be advised that this role requires a strong knowledge and understanding of safeguarding and child protection and that successful applicants must satisfy all background safer recruitment checks including providing an enhanced DBS certificate registered on the update service, or completing an application for a new check.
