Job Title: SEN Teaching Assistant
Location: Sheffield
Salary: £460 – £600 per week (depending on experience and qualifications)
Contract Type: Long-term / Temporary, Full-time / Part-time

Do you have a caring and patient approach and enjoy helping pupils overcome barriers to learning? A welcoming school in Sheffield is seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to provide tailored support and help pupils get the most from their education.
About the Role:
As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work alongside teachers to support pupils with special educational needs across the school day. You may provide one-to-one or small-group assistance, help pupils access classroom activities and support their communication, learning and behaviour.
You will play an important part in creating a calm and encouraging environment where pupils feel supported, while adapting your approach to meet their individual needs.

Responsibilities:

Provide one-to-one and small-group support for pupils with SEN.

Assist pupils with accessing classroom activities and learning tasks.

Work closely with teachers to follow individual support strategies.

Encourage positive behaviour, communication and engagement.

Help pupils develop confidence and greater independence.

Support pupils with their social and emotional needs where appropriate.

Monitor progress and share relevant observations with teaching staff.
Requirements:
-
Previous experience supporting children or young people with SEN is desirable.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

A patient, caring and adaptable approach.

Confidence supporting pupils with a range of additional needs.

Ability to work effectively alongside teachers and wider school staff.

A genuine commitment to inclusive education.

SEN, education or care experience is advantageous.
To work with GSL Education as a SEN Teaching Assistant, you should:

Have the right to work in the UK.

Have an up-to-date CV with two relevant references from within the last two years.

Have an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service or be willing to apply for one through GSL Education.
Please be advised that this role requires a strong knowledge and understanding of safeguarding and child protection and that successful applicants must satisfy all background safer recruitment checks including providing an enhanced DBS certificate registered on the update service, or completing an application for a new check.
