Salary: £460 – £650 per week (depending on experience and qualifications)

Contract Type: Long-term / Temporary, Full-time / Part-time

Are you confident managing a classroom and keen to support students in staying focused and engaged with their learning? A welcoming secondary school in Doncaster is looking for a dependable Cover Supervisor to join its team.

About the Role:

As a Cover Supervisor, you will take responsibility for supervising classes across Key Stages 3 and 4 when teachers are unavailable. You will deliver pre-prepared work, maintain positive classroom behaviour and help students stay on task across a range of subjects.

You will work with different groups throughout the school day, making this a great opportunity to build your classroom experience while playing a valuable role in supporting students' education.

Responsibilities:

  • Supervise classes across Key Stages 3 and 4 in the absence of the regular teacher.

  • Follow and deliver lesson plans and activities provided by teaching staff.

  • Maintain appropriate classroom behaviour and routines.

  • Encourage students to remain focused and complete their assigned work.

  • Support smooth transitions between lessons.

  • Respond appropriately to classroom issues and follow school procedures.

  • Provide relevant feedback to teachers about student engagement and behaviour.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with children or young people is desirable.

  • Confident classroom management and communication skills.

  • Ability to lead a class and maintain clear boundaries.

  • A calm, organised and adaptable approach.

  • Confidence working with secondary-age students.

  • Ability to follow instructions and work independently.

  • A genuine interest in supporting students' learning and development.

To work with GSL Education as a Cover Supervisor, you should:

  • Have the right to work in the UK.

  • Have an up-to-date CV with two relevant references from within the last two years.

  • Have an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service or be willing to apply for one through GSL Education.

Please be advised that this role requires a strong knowledge and understanding of safeguarding and child protection and that successful applicants must satisfy all background safer recruitment checks including providing an enhanced DBS certificate registered on the update service, or completing an application for a new check.
