Job Title: Cover Supervisor

Salary: £460 – £650 per week (depending on experience and qualifications)

Contract Type: Long-term / Temporary, Full-time / Part-time

Are you confident leading a classroom and keen to make a difference to students' learning? A welcoming secondary school in Sheffield is looking for a reliable Cover Supervisor to join their team.

About the Role:

As a Cover Supervisor, you will oversee classes across Key Stages 3 and 4, ensuring students remain focused and engaged when their usual teacher is unavailable. You will deliver pre-prepared work, manage classroom behaviour and support students across different subjects and departments.

Responsibilities:

  • Supervise classes across Key Stages 3 and 4 in the absence of the regular teacher.

  • Deliver lesson plans and work provided by teaching staff.

  • Maintain positive behaviour and classroom routines.

  • Support students to remain focused and complete their work.

  • Manage lesson transitions and ensure students follow school expectations.

  • Provide appropriate feedback to teachers regarding student engagement and behaviour.

  • Promote a calm, safe and productive learning environment.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with children or young people is desirable.

  • Strong classroom management and communication skills.

  • Confidence leading groups of secondary-age students.

  • A calm, organised and professional approach.

  • Ability to follow lesson plans and work independently.

  • Flexibility to support different subjects and departments.

  • A genuine interest in helping students achieve their potential.

To work with GSL Education as a Cover Supervisor, you should:

  • Have the right to work in the UK.

  • Have an up-to-date CV with two relevant references from within the last two years.

  • Have an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service or be willing to apply for one through GSL Education.

Please be advised that this role requires a strong knowledge and understanding of safeguarding and child protection and that successful applicants must satisfy all background safer recruitment checks including providing an enhanced DBS certificate registered on the update service, or completing an application for a new check.
