Salary: £460–£650 per week (depending on experience)

GSL Education South Yorkshire Branch are seeking an enthusiastic Sports Coach (Learning Support) to work with a school in Doncaster. This position combines sporting activities with pupil support in classroom, giving you the chance to use physical activity as a positive way to encourage engagement, communication and personal development. You may also support pupils with SEN, assist with behaviour management, supervise classes when required and help create a positive learning environment where every student can participate with confidence.
As a Sports Coach (Learning Support), your responsibilities will be:
- Support students through structured sporting and physical activities.
- Encourage teamwork, communication and positive interaction.
- Assist teachers with learning activities across a range of subjects.
- Use sport to help pupils develop confidence and self-discipline.
- Adapt activities to accommodate different abilities and needs.
- Support students who may require additional encouragement with learning.
- Work alongside teaching and pastoral staff to promote positive engagement.
- Maintain safe and inclusive standards during all activities.
Requirements:
- Experience working with children or young people is desirable.
- A background in sports coaching, PE, youth work or education would be advantageous.
- Previous experience working with children or young people is desirable.
- Confident and positive approach when working with pupils.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to motivate students and encourage participation.
- Patient, adaptable and reliable.
- Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) certificate on the Update Service, or willingness to apply.
- Good understanding of safeguarding and child protection.
