Salary Scale: £92 – £115 per day (Depending on experience)

GSL Education Hull Branch are currently recruiting for a dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant to join a supportive educational setting in York. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is confident working with young people who may have complex learning, communication, emotional, or behavioural needs.
About the Role
As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will provide tailored one-to-one and small-group support to students, helping them access learning and develop greater confidence and independence. You will work closely with teachers and the wider support team to create a calm, structured, and inclusive environment where every student can make progress.
Core Responsibilities of the SEND Teaching Assistant:
- Provide one-to-one and small-group support to students with a range of SEND needs.
- Help students access classroom activities and adapt support according to their individual needs.
- Support students with communication, social interaction, emotional regulation, and engagement.
- Promote positive behaviour through calm, consistent, and supportive approaches.
- Build positive relationships with students while maintaining clear and appropriate boundaries.
- Work closely with teachers and wider staff to monitor progress and provide consistent individualised support.
As the Ideal SEND Teaching Assistant, You Should Have:
- Previous experience supporting children or young people with SEND or additional needs.
- Familiarity with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) and an understanding of how individual needs can affect learning and behaviour.
- A calm, patient, and resilient approach when working in challenging situations.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to adapt your approach to meet different learning, emotional, and behavioural needs.
- A genuine passion for helping young people develop confidence, independence, and positive attitudes towards education.
To Work with GSL Education, You Must:
- Have the right to work in the UK.
- Provide an up-to-date CV and references covering the last 2 years.
- Have recent experience working with children or young people.
- Hold an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or be willing to apply for one.
