Job Title: SEMH Teacher
Location: Sheffield
Pay Rate: Up to £220 per day (depending on experience)
Start Date: Immediate
Contract: Full-time/ Part-time, Day-to-day/ Long-term

GSL Education South Yorkshire Branch are seeking experienced and adaptable SEMH Teachers to work within welcoming schools across Sheffield. We welcome qualified educators who can combine effective teaching with emotional and behavioural support, respond to individual needs, and create a classroom culture where students feel secure enough to engage and succeed.
The SEMH Teacher will deliver accessible and purposeful learning for students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, balancing academic development with strategies that strengthen resilience, emotional regulation, and positive engagement.
SEMH Teacher Responsibilities:
- Design differentiated lessons around individual academic and SEMH requirements
- Establish predictable routines that promote stability and readiness to learn
- Integrate positive behaviour strategies into everyday classroom practice
- Guide young people in developing resilience, self-regulation, and constructive coping skills
- Evaluate both educational progress and engagement to inform future planning
- Partner with support staff, pastoral teams, and relevant professionals to coordinate provision
SEMH Teacher Requirements:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or a recognised equivalent teaching qualification
- Detailed understanding of Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs
- Experience teaching learners with behavioural, emotional, or additional needs is highly desirable
- Confidence applying appropriate behaviour management and de-escalation techniques
- Strong classroom leadership with a flexible and resilient teaching approach
- Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply)
