Location: Sheffield

Salary: £460–£600 per week (depending on experience)

Start Date: Immediate

Contract Type: Long-Term/ Day-to-day, Full-Time / Part-Time

Are you a caring and adaptable Teaching Assistant who can help pupils feel supported, included and ready to learn?

GSL Education South Yorkshire Branch are seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant (TA) to work with a school in Sheffield. This role provides the opportunity to support students with their learning, work alongside teachers and encourage students to develop greater confidence and independence in the classroom.

As a Teaching Assistant, you will:

  • Support individuals and small groups with classroom learning.
  • Assist students with instructions, activities and learning resources.
  • Help students stay focused and engaged during lessons.
  • Encourage positive behaviour and effective classroom routines.
  • Provide additional support to pupils who require help with their learning.
  • Work closely with teachers to meet individual learning needs.
  • Contribute to a safe, inclusive and positive classroom environment.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with children or young people as a Teaching Assistant or similar position is expected.
  • Experience in education, childcare, tutoring or a similar setting would be advantageous.
  • Patient, approachable and supportive manner.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff.
  • Reliable, organised and committed to supporting children's learning.
  • Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) certificate on the Update Service, or willingness to apply.
  • Good understanding of safeguarding and child protection is very important to work as a TA.
