Job Title: Computer Studies Teacher
Location: Barnsley
Pay Rate: Up to £220 per day (depending on experience)
Start Date: Immediate
Contract: Full-time/ Part-time, Day-to-day/ Long-term

GSL Education South Yorkshire Branch are seeking enthusiastic and technically proficient Computer Studies (CS) Teachers to work in welcoming schools throughout Barnsley. This role would suit qualified educators who can connect computing theory with practical applications, introduce students to programming and digital systems, and make technical subjects engaging for learners of different abilities.
As a Computer Studies Teacher, you will deliver curriculum-focused learning that develops students’ understanding of programming, algorithms, computer systems, data, networks, cybersecurity, and computational thinking.
Computer Studies Teacher Responsibilities:
- Construct engaging lessons around key areas of Computing and Computer Studies
- Demonstrate programming principles through coding exercises and practical challenges
- Explore algorithms, networks, data representation, computer systems, and cybersecurity
- Encourage logical thinking and independent approaches to technical problem-solving
- Monitor achievement through projects, coursework, tests, and classroom activities
- Equip examination groups with focused revision and assessment preparation
Computer Studies Teacher Requirements:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or a recognised equivalent teaching qualification
- Comprehensive knowledge of the secondary Computing or Computer Studies curriculum
- Familiarity with programming languages and relevant digital technologies
- Previous experience teaching Computing or Computer Science
- Confidence explaining technical concepts clearly to students at different ability levels
- Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply)
