Job Title: Design and Technology Teacher
Location: Barnsley
Pay Rate: Up to £220 per day (depending on experience)
Start Date: Immediate
Contract: Full-time/ Part-time, Day-to-day/ Long-term

GSL Education South Yorkshire Branch are looking for skilled and imaginative Design and Technology Teachers to join reputed schools in Barnsley. We are seeking qualified educators who can combine technical instruction with creative problem-solving and give students the confidence to experiment with materials, processes, and their own design ideas.

The Design and Technology Teacher will support learners through each stage of the design process, helping them develop practical expertise, technical understanding, creativity, and an appreciation of effective product design.

D&T Teacher Responsibilities:

  • Develop practical lessons that connect design theory with hands-on application
  • Demonstrate techniques for using materials, tools, machinery, and specialist equipment safely
  • Mentor students as they progress from initial ideas to prototypes and finished products
  • Introduce design challenges that strengthen creativity and problem-solving abilities
  • Review project outcomes and provide focused feedback for further improvement
  • Uphold workshop safety procedures throughout practical activities

DT Teacher Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or a recognised equivalent teaching qualification
  • Detailed understanding of the secondary Design and Technology curriculum
  • Practical knowledge of relevant materials, manufacturing processes, and workshop equipment
  • Experience delivering D&T lessons within a school or similar setting
  • Capability to lead practical sessions while maintaining an organised learning environment
  • Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply)
