Job Title: Teacher of Maths

Contract Type: Temporary, Full Time, Term Time Only

Salary Scale: £34,068 to £52,834 per annum (MPS/UPS)

GSL Education Hull Branch are currently hiring a Teacher of Maths to work in a well-established secondary school in York. This is an exciting opportunity for a dedicated and enthusiastic teacher to join a supportive department, deliver high-quality lessons and contribute to the academic progress and wider development of pupils.
Teacher of Maths Role:
The successful Teacher of Maths will plan and deliver engaging lessons across the appropriate secondary curriculum, supporting pupils with a range of abilities. You will promote a positive attitude towards mathematics, challenge learners appropriately and use effective assessment to help pupils make sustained progress.
Teacher of Maths Responsibilities:
- Plan and deliver well-structured Maths lessons that meet curriculum requirements and support strong pupil progress.
- Make mathematical concepts accessible through clear explanations, relevant examples and varied teaching approaches.
- Differentiate lessons and resources to meet the needs of pupils with different abilities and learning needs.
- Establish high expectations for behaviour, effort and achievement within the classroom.
- Assess pupils’ understanding and provide constructive feedback to support their development.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to contribute to effective curriculum delivery and pupils’ wider academic progress.
Teacher of Maths Requirements:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
- Strong subject knowledge in Mathematics and confidence teaching across the secondary age range.
- Previous experience teaching Maths within a secondary school setting is desirable.
- Excellent classroom management and communication skills, with the ability to motivate and engage pupils.
- A reflective, adaptable and enthusiastic approach to teaching, with high expectations for all learners.
- An up-to-date CV covering the last 10 years, with any employment gaps explained
- An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to apply for one.
