Job Title: Higher Level Teaching Assistant
Location: Scarborough, North Yorkshire
Contract Type: Temporary, Supply, Full-Time

Salary Scale: £149 Per Day
Are you an experienced Teaching Assistant ready to take on greater responsibility and make a real difference to pupils’ learning? GSL Education Hull Branch are currently recruiting a confident and dedicated Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to work in an educational setting in Scarborough.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced education professional who can support pupils effectively, work closely with teaching staff, and confidently take responsibility for learning activities when required.
Main Responsibilities:
- Provide targeted one-to-one and small-group support to pupils, helping them overcome barriers to learning.
- Deliver planned learning activities and interventions in line with teachers’ instructions and pupils’ individual needs.
- Support teachers with lesson preparation, classroom organisation, resources, and differentiated activities.
- Take responsibility for classes or groups of pupils when required, maintaining a positive and well-managed learning environment.
- Monitor pupils’ progress, engagement, and behaviour, providing appropriate feedback to teaching staff.
- Build positive relationships with pupils while promoting independence, confidence, positive behaviour, and achievement.
Minimum Requirements:
- Previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant, or in a similar educational support role is essential.
- A recognised Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent experience is desirable.
- Strong classroom management and communication skills, with the confidence to lead learning activities independently.
- Ability to support pupils with a range of abilities and additional learning needs.
- A proactive, adaptable, and professional approach with a genuine commitment to pupil development.
- An Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service, or willingness to apply for one.
