Job Title: SEMH Support Staff (Primary)
Location: Doncaster
Salary: £460 – £600 per week (depending on experience and qualifications)
Contract Type: Long-term / Temporary, Full-time / Part-time

Are you patient, supportive and passionate about helping children overcome barriers to learning? A welcoming primary school in Doncaster is looking for dedicated SEMH Support Staff to provide tailored support to pupils and help them engage positively with school life.
About the Role:
As SEMH Support Staff, you will work closely with teachers and pastoral colleagues to support pupils who may experience social, emotional and mental health needs. Your role will involve providing one-to-one and small-group support, helping children manage their emotions, encouraging positive behaviour and supporting their participation in learning. You will play an important part in helping pupils feel secure, understood and ready to learn.

Responsibilities:

Provide one-to-one and small-group support for pupils with SEMH needs.

Help pupils develop strategies for managing emotions and behaviour.

Support children to engage positively with classroom learning and activities.

Work alongside teachers and pastoral staff to maintain consistent support.

Build positive and professional relationships with pupils.

Promote a calm, safe and structured learning environment.

Monitor pupil engagement and share relevant observations with staff.
Requirements:
-
Previous experience supporting children with SEMH or additional needs is desirable.

A patient, calm and empathetic approach.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Confidence managing challenging behaviour appropriately.

Ability to remain consistent and professional in potentially demanding situations.

Experience within a primary school or similar setting is advantageous.

Have an up-to-date CV with two relevant references from within the last two years.

Have an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service or be willing to apply for one through GSL Education.
