Job Title: Sports Coach / Learning Support
Location: Sheffield
Salary: £460 – £650 per week (depending on experience and qualifications)
Contract Type: Long-term / Temporary, Full-time / Part-time

Are you from a sports or coaching background and looking to use your skills in a school setting? A supportive school in Sheffield is seeking a Sports Coach / Learning Support professional to provide valuable classroom and behaviour support.
About the Role:
This is a school-based classroom support role, rather than a sports delivery position. You will work alongside teachers to support pupils across Primary or Secondary settings, helping with classroom activities, behaviour, engagement and, where required, cover supervision. Your experience in sport or coaching can provide valuable transferable skills such as structure, resilience, communication and positive behaviour management. Sport is your background, but your main duty will be supporting pupils in the classroom.

Responsibilities:

Provide classroom-based support to pupils across Primary or Secondary settings.

Support positive behaviour and help pupils remain engaged with learning.

Assist teachers with classroom activities and day-to-day learning support.

Provide cover supervision when required.

Support pupils with SEN and additional learning needs where appropriate.

Build positive relationships with pupils and encourage their participation.

Help maintain a calm, structured and safe classroom environment.

Use transferable coaching skills to encourage resilience, teamwork and positive behaviour.
Requirements:
-
Previous experience in sports coaching, fitness, education, youth work or a similar setting is desirable.

Experience supporting children or young people in a classroom or structured environment is advantageous.

Strong behaviour management and communication skills.

A calm, patient and resilient approach.

Ability to provide effective support to pupils with different needs.

Confidence working alongside teachers and other school staff.

A genuine interest in helping pupils succeed in education.
To work with GSL Education as a Sports Coach / Learning Support, you should:

Have the right to work in the UK.

Have an up-to-date CV with two relevant references from within the last two years.

Have an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service or be willing to apply for one through GSL Education.
Please be advised that this role requires a strong knowledge and understanding of safeguarding and child protection and that successful applicants must satisfy all background safer recruitment checks including providing an enhanced DBS certificate registered on the update service, or completing an application for a new check.
